Fullmetal Alchemist
Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex
Dude... :P

Of course, in all fairness, both of those series are 51-52 episodes long (plus each have a 2 hour movie) and span 13-14 volumes... ;)

That, and I've been out of work since December of 07, so yeah, my collection is nowhere near where I'd like it to be right now.

Yeah that will definitely do it. :( On the plus side, at least companies like Funimation are starting to let people legally stream entire series or parts of series on their website. It's how I've been watching most of my anime these days because it's just too expensive to buy it unless it's a series I really, really like.

Streams are all well and good. But me, I like to watch anime curled up in bed on my TV. So I get the fansubs, and then burn them to a DVD. When they're released here in the US, I get the official releases. I've done this with many series already (Haruhi Suzumiya, Rumbling Hearts, School Rumble, etc.).

I think the only series I've actually sat at my computer and watched was Haruhi-Chan on YouTube. Because you're not sitting there at your computer for a lengthy period of time doing nothing but watching anime. If I'm at my computer, I'm doing lot of things, and not just watching an anime.

Yeah, I get ya. I'm fairly used to watching shows on my computer since I don't have cable and have to stream several of the shows I watch. So streaming episodes doesn't really bother me (severe reduction in quality and annoying buffering issues notwithstanding). Although now that I have a DTV converter box, it certainly makes getting shows on the main networks easier. But naturally, no anime on those networks. So legally streaming is really the only way I have at the moment to watch the anime I want and make sure I support the publisher as I'm not in a financial situation that allows me to spend lots of money on DVDs at the moment either.

I do obtain HD fansubs of FMA: Brotherhood at the moment but I make sure to stream the episodes too.

And in no way does that list put my collection to shame... :rollaugh:

My collection currently consists of:

I ended up selling Noir a while back since I just didn't find that it held up all that well over the long term.

Funny how I just recently completed my Noir collection. Hard as hell to find certain individual volumes now that the thin-pak set is out.

Still a hell of a collection, Harv. You stick to what you know, and what you like. Me? I'm a collector, so I've got a wide range of things.

Oh, btw. I forgot to link to my Gundam DVD's, which I've got separate from my regular anime....

Yeah, it's incredibly hard to get ahold of it now as individual volumes since they're out of print. That's no doubt why I was able to sell it so easily, and for almost retail price too. It's not as bad as finding season 1 of Farscape but it's damn near close. If I had waited a bit longer I probably could have sold it for more than retail. But, it was taking up space, collecting dust, and I didn't want to risk damage to the art box since that's really difficult to find now.

I still like the series and it's certainly worth a watch (especially the second half) but I just wasn't rewatching it frequently enough to justify keeping it when there are other people out there that will no doubt get more use out of it.

Thanks! :D There are definitely other series and movies that I would pick up if I had more money to play with for DVDs (e.g., Ergo Proxy) but I have several live action TV series (and movies) that are competing as well. Plus there's the whole lack of time thing too... lol

And proud you should be (who am I, Yoda? lol)! One must embrace their inner geek and inner Otaku! It's not something to be ashamed of, even though some people have amusingly tried to tell me that it is. What am I supposed to do, throw away who I am and invent false interests simply so they can feel better about themselves? Yeah, not gonna happen...

The way I look at it is this. They have no idea what the frak they're missing. And I feel sorry for them for not being able to find and embrace their inner Otaku. :( ;)

^ Do you know what's sad? I haven't seen Neon Genesis Evangelion once yet. Seriously. It's been on my list for ages and I've just never gotten around to it due to other series grabbing my attention. Just sad.

Oh and I've recently added the first four volumes of Moribito: Guardian of the Spirit (Seirei no Moribito) to my anime collection. I started watching fansubs of this shortly after finishing Ergo Proxy (which I mostly hated...) and fell in love with it almost immediately. It's rare that I'll start buying an anime series without seeing the whole thing first. But I had to make an exception for this. Really, really good so far. Outstanding production values (wouldn't expect any less from Production I.G.), great script, beautiful music, and very good VA work. Expect a review of this once I finish it. At the rate I'm going, I'll probably be done with it by next weekend. ;)
