I have recently started reading the manga series Suikoden and have browsed the
video game.If you know anything about it you know it's very long and not
a very strong story. But hope is not lost beacuse the manga version is very well done.I can see why they made it a comic series rather than continue the game.
The plot is very thick and as for the art work, beautiful! You don't have to play the RPG to get the plot, its entirely changed except for minor details.

Actually, there are four games in the Suikoden series, and I have to say I disagree with you about the series having a weak story, especially with what I consider the masterpiece that is Suikoden II's storyline. Suikoden II is a masterpiece of an RPG, right up there with Final Fantasy VI and Secret of Mana (Seiken Densetsu II). Just my opinion, though.

Finally the others sides opinion. The only opinions that I have herd is from a whole bunch of friends who didn't like the games. But their FF shippers so that could be why they didn't like it.I personally havn't played them but I read a synops of the first two. They were very long.

Haven't read the manga but the first three games are fantastic (especially the second). While FF VI is my favorite RPG, I think it could seriously compete with Suikoden II...

Another pro-Suikoden-games person here. :)

If I'm thinking right, I believe the manga is based on Suikoden 3 (check me on that, TK?) I enjoyed that one fairly well, but nowhere near as much as the first two. And I'm bitter that they mostly abandoned the idea of bringing in characters from previous games. That was one of the coolest aspects between 1 & 2...finding out what some of my fave characters had been up to. :)

Still, S3's storyline had enough meat to it that a manga sounds pretty cool.

3's biggest problem is that it starts out REALLY slow... but once it gets going, the story is quite good. You just have to lower your expectations a bit. ;)
