Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince; Do I get a prize for finishing it first?

No Spoilers!

The next time I whine about my job, remind me of this day.

The library's copies of the latest Harry Potter came this morning. I signed for the box and took it back to Tech Services and promptly tore the box open so I could read the last chapter. ...Don't look at me like that. I always read mysteries backwards, why should this be any different?

Anyway. After lunch I sat down to catalogue our copies. I smuggled one down to the Young Adult librarian (all wrapped up so none of the children would see it) and she told me that she will now worship me as a god, which is as it should be. Then I went back to Tech Services and checked out my copy... and realized that I still had three hours of cataloguing before I could start reading. But I made it through the day, and five hours later (and so full of caffeine and chocolate that I doubt I'll get any sleep anyway), it's finished.

Not that I'm gloating or anything.

GAH!

I miss my old job.

And yes, all should worship you as a god. But only if I'm higher in the pantheon than you. :P

Have you ever given someone a HP ten hours before the official release?

For today at least, I am above all you puny mortals! :sumo:

Sweet, Katrina! Have a rolling smiley for your excellence: :rollaugh:

Glad to hear someone read it that fast. :) I've committed to finishing it by July 31 so my dad can use it for his reading material during our upcoming vacation.

There are surprisingly few areas of life where being a fast reader really matters, but by god this is one of them. I think I should get points for consideration, too; I took the library copy back before opening so it could go to the next person on the reserve list.

I'm so good.

Out of curiosity, just how many copies did the library get and how many people are on the hold list for it?

We got eight copies this time. I didn't check how long the list was, but everything I processed had a reserve on it. Of course, four of the copies went to staff members who knew enough to reserve early so they'd be at the top of the list.

Poo! I'll probably not get to read this one until the paperback version comes out. (I don't buy the hardcovers cause, um... I like being able to afford food). :P

Just bought it this morning! I can't wait to read it. When the 5th one came out, I spent my entire day relaxing and reading. I finished it that day. Unfortunatly, this time around I cannot do that, for I now have a job, and days off are few. Plus, I have to finish reading "Inkheart" which is also a good book, but I am considering putting it on hold for HP. I am a happy camper, now that I have the 6th instalment.

A co-worker was going to lend me his copy and he still hasn't given it to me. He's leaving to go back to college in like two weeks.

I told him I'd finish it like, in a day. ;) Must berate him about this..... :P
