Just to clarify some of these: a) if it’s illegal anywhere, it’s illegal here. b) Let’s not be mean, kids. c) Please don’t infect us! d) No libel. AT ALL. (I don’t tolerate it). e) Please keep the forum spam-free. f) This is a fanfic board so there may come a time when the use of drugs comes up in a story. Try to avoid it but if you are unsure of whether or not it’s appropriate, email or PM me. g) pretty self-explanatory. Try to be open-minded and considerate in your writing. h) no hacking. i) This one includes any kind of writing software. j) No nakedness. Period. This includes MA stories. k) You may swear in moderation if it is part of your story. If you’re unsure about a certain word, email or PM me. l) There’s no role-playing forum but writing from a character’s point of view is fine as long as you stay “in character.” This also means no pretending to be like, Monica Rial or something. Unless you really are Monica Rial, in which case that’s totally fine. m) again, no hacking. Ratings System: (system used at FanFiction.Net) Please put the rating in the Topic Title with the Title of your story! K – This is a family friendly story. Anyone can read a K-rated story. There is no sexual content or violence described in detail and no (zero) swearing. K+ - These stories are suitable for more mature childen, 9 years and older, with minor action violence without serious injury. May contain mild coarse language. Should not contain any adult themes. T – Persons under the age of 13 must have parental consent to read any T-rated story. There can be light sexual contact (such as light kissing and hand-holding, etc...then a cut or “FADE TO BLACK”) and light violence (nothing containing graphic details). Light swearing is also allowed. M – Not intended for anyone under the age of 16! Sexual Content: Anything more than light kissing, holding, back rubs, and attraction is M. This rating can describe the lead-up and the emotions to sexual acts but NOT the mechanics. Anything describing in detail any sexual act is MA and not permitted on this board. Violent Content: Any violent act that includes vivid description of intense pain (physical or emotional), mutilation, blood, torture, or the like is rated M. Anything extremely violent or twisted that is described in great detail might, in some instances, be classified as MA and is not permitted on this board. Language: Swearing and strong language is allowed buy no sexually explicit words. If you’re unsure of a certain word, please email or PM me. If you are unsure of a rating (like whether a story you’ve written falls under T or M), it is always safer to go with the stronger rating. You may also email or PM me with ratings questions. As stated in the Invision Terms of Service, ANY MA material is simply not allowed on this board. This includes any sexual act described in detail, sexually explicit words, and any extremely violent and/or twisted acts described in great detail. Links to MA material is also prohibited by the Terms of Service. If your rating changes throughout the posting of your story, please let me know so that I can change it in the topic title. here's a list of different genres for anime/manga that can be used in your story discription or notes to help describe the content of your story. Just remember that some of these genre definitions are not allowed on the board (ie...hentai, eechi, and yaoi / yuri). Quoted from Niko's glossary list Quote: GENRES shoujo: Term for anime whose primary target audience was originally teen (or younger) girls. Stories often deal with high school romance or female superhero's. Classic examples of shoujo series include Sailor Moon, Card Captor Sakura, and Kodocha. Both shoujo and shounen anime cross gender and age lines in popularity. shounen: Term for anime whose primary target audience was originally teen (or younger) boys. Stories usually have a lot of action or guy-centric high school romances. Examples of shounen anime include Dragonball Z, Love Hina, and Fullmetal Alchemist. yaoi / yuri: Anime, manga, or fanworks that feature homosexual romance between two men (yaoi) or women (yuri). There is a thriving genre in Japanese manga, in particular, for original, professionally published yaoi works, but in western fanfiction, the term is also analogous to "slash", which takes canonically straight (or unspecified) characters and writes them as gay. shounen-ai / shoujo-ai: Literally, "Boy Love" and "Girl Love". Means roughly the same thing as yaoi/yuri, but in fanfiction lingo, it often indicates a work where nothing explicit occurs. hentai / H: "Perverted". Refers to sexually explicit material, usually of the heterosexual variety. Note that "H" is often used to refer to both hentai and ecchi material. ecchi: A milder form of "hentai". Ecchi often refers to anime titles that are not sexually explicit but that take fan service to extreme levels, with whole casts of jiggly, scantily-clad, well-endowed females. The anime of Satoshi Urushihara ("Plastic Little", "Legend of Lemnear") are classic examples of the ecchi style. (You guys will have to help me here if there are better examples...I happen to love Urushihara's character designs, but this definitely isn't my area of expertise. ;) ) harem: A subgenre of anime/manga in which there's one primary male character surrounded by a large number of girls, many of whom have romantic interest in him. Classic examples are "Tenchi Muyo" and "Love Hina". General Fanfic Guidelines 1) Be familiar with our general Board guidelines (link) 2) Remember to include the following things at the beginning of your story: • Disclaimer • Rating • Spoiler warnings (in the helpful hints section below is a template for your story info). 3) Remember, no spamming or flaming. 4) All the general rules of copyright apply here (link) 5) When using quotes, please give your source. 6) Plagiarism is forbidden and will not be tolerated. Helpful Hints New writers are always welcome! Please feel free to introduce yourself in the Sushi Bar and let us know who your favorite characters are. And brag about being a writer! Trust me, it’s definitely something worth bragging about! When commenting on a story, please remember to offer positive suggestions. If you are the author, remember to be open to constructive criticism. The people leaving you feedback are (for the most part) just trying to help you become the best writer you can be. And always remember, the more feedback you give, the more you will receive! (I also find that the more I read, the better my writing).
